Might be swapping from Zen to Bt Broadband as its cheaper faster and no
download limits.
Option 3 states no download limits, is this true?. What is the fair usage
policy?.
What newsgroups do i get, is there a list somewhere.

Andy.

It's not entirely true, the download limit is anything from 50GB to
130GB depending on who you talk to in BT. As a prospective customer
you might like to ask the FUP team on 0800 707 6044.

The is also traffic shaping applied during peak hours, these are not
defined but often seem to be from 4.00pm to midnight. Any peer to peer
application can be exceptionally slow at these times, but OK off-peak.

Newsgroups are outsourced to Giganews, they advertise 107,000
newsgroups with ~180 days of binary newsgroups retention and 1537+
days of text newsgroups retention.

You might also like to check some users comments at

They also have dedicated support newsgroups, particularly
bt.broadband.support to which dedicated bt staff contribute although the
peer group tend to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Avoid any ISP whose peak hours are not 'office hours'.

Indeed, it means their customer base is largely residential and performance will
drop off exactly at exactly the wrong time.

No download limits - but there is an Acceptable Use policy in force along
with traffic shaping *when BT thinks* you are using too much bandwidth.

Because my exchange has been upgraded but if i stay with Zen i have to
stay on 1mbs or swap to another product with a cap. If i go to BT i can
get 2.5mbs.
