BT Broadband Connection Applet XP Problems

The systray Connection Applet for BT broadband crashes and hangs quite often
on my PC, which stops XP from shutting down. Does anyone else get this? Is
there any way to solve it?

I got the latest drivers last week but the situation hasn't changed.

Can anyone help?
