"Millions of homes and businesses are set to enjoy a free broadband boost
after BT announced it will more than double the headline speeds for its
residential and business customers.
Over 60,000 consumers are already enjoying the faster speeds through a BT
trial and the upgrade to ADSL 2+ technology will be available to other homes
in the summer. BT Retail broadband customers already enjoy speeds of up to
8Mb/s. The plans will see consumers and business in enabled areas receive
faster speeds of up to 20Mb/s as part of their broadband service at no extra
cost."

Anyone know where this is currently available and how to get it?

You need to check if your exchange has been upgraded first, see
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php and check if you have 21CN
and WBC.

Then find an ISP who has the product available. BT are having problems
with it at the moment though and some customers are getting slower
speeds than they did on ADSL, if they can get a connection at all.

AAISP have customers on it and it might be worth following
uk.net.providers.aaisp for status reports of how they are getting on.
They are having major problems at the moment in some areas and are
having to implement workarounds for what appears to be a problem with
BTs routers.

If you have someone syncing at around 512-1024 kb/s, will this get worse
with ADSL2+? Or is it safe to say that at worst there will simply be
no improvement? The distance/speed graphs I've seen don't seem to make
this obvious.

Thanks,
Chris
