BT Broadband and e-mail addresses?

A friend (highly intelligent in every other way) has "accepted" BT's
kind offer to take up Broadband. He was for a long time using an ISDN
line to connect to OneTel, so the price reduction swayed his decision,
which he now regrets!.

BT apparently sent e-mail to the address they gave him BEFORE the
service was activated (via "engineer install") so he never received
them, ending up giving him an address with his name wrongly spelt. He
would like to correct this, but BT claim it's very difficult, some
blather about "an office move".

Also, he wants to have multiple e-mail accounts with addresses of
(E-Mail Removed) or (E-Mail Removed) rather than
(E-Mail Removed) variety.

He seems to have signed up for 12 months with BT Business Broadband
500 - can anyone offer advice on the above?

TIA,

CJ (Lovett - I see there's another!)

Get an e-mail service from somewhere else - e.g. he could register a
domain, set-up multiple addresses and collect them over BT BB.

It's a thought. At £6.09p UK mine was certainly cheap! But I think since
BT got him into this, they ought to respond more helpfully than they
have so far. (OK, BT and helpful = oxymoron)

Certainly - if BT have made a spelling mistake when setting up the
name they must correct it. It may be necessary to call the Chairman's
Office to nudge the droids into action. Call 020 7356 5000 and ask
them to escalate the matter.

That's not quite as helpful as I had hoped.
