BT 2700hgv. Accessing menu wirelessly.

I've just bought one of these for £1.50. I got it working perfectly on a
non-BT ISP very quickly and I'm very pleased with it.

When I set it up I used 192.168.1.254 to access the set-up menu via a
wired Ethernet connection, although I'm now accessing the internet
wirelessly via the WAP (Fusion) connection.

I'd like to monitor the sync speed I'm getting wirelessly but I can't
seem to access the modem's internal pages this way.

Is it using a different IP address for Fusion connections and, if so,
what is it? Am I missing something?

It's running version 5.29 software.

I see. So this router that Peter Crossland recommends not only is short
on features, but also contains a back door to destroy its own firmware?
Very good. {CLAPS SARCASTICALLY}

I second Peter Crossland enthusiasm for this piece of kit.

For those of us that live with long, poor quality lines these routers
hold faster sync than anything else I have come across. I have tried at
least 10 different routers, including Drayteks, NetGear etc and the 2700
holds sync 50% faster than any of them. (1.5 MB instead of 1MB
downstream), with a rocksolid connection. 3rd party VOIP works.
That said, avoid the latest models with the BT 6.x firmware. No one has
managed to get third party VOIP working on them yet as far as I know.

Given my rural situation, I'm lucky if more than five people pass my
house in the day. I'm not worried about hackers as the only things
within range of a few rabbits.

Cheers - Adam

I should also have added that I've been living in Portugal now for over
a year and, despite living 5K from the exchange with, ahem, somewhat
suspect infrastructure (telephone poles at 45°, lines hanging onto the
ground, wrapped around pine trees) the 2700 syncs at solid 5MB. And
usable VOIP means that I can still use a UK number, saving masses in
international calls.

Cheers - Adam

What works well at low signals doesn't necessarily work well at high.
Simples.

I think you are correct. I'm at a loss as to why the 2700HGV would force
interleaving on when other routers are syncing with it off though. Normally
its either on or off for all routers. If you login to your ISP do you have
control of the interleaving setting?

well it just goes to show doesn't it?

I have a router hat is so barely known, its probably the least popular
router on the UK market. Why? It suits MY needs.

Only fools think that what is good for them must be best for everyone.
