Browsing through Network Neighborhood

This is probably a basic networking question but I am stumped. I can view
all workstations and servers through network neighborhood. However my other
administrators cannot. I have file and print sharing, Microsoft client
enabled on all hosts. WINS appears to be working and the Master Browser is
the DC. I wouldn't care if end users couldn't see the workstations, but
apparenbtly y other administrators cannot manage tools like Symantec Center
Console which cannot see the workstations through network neighborhood. Any
suggestions? Thanks!

Jim

It doesn't mean anything that they are administrators. Net'Hood doesn't
care "who" people are.
Forget the "humans",...look at the machines they use,...there is something
different about them,...something that isn't right.

What do they see? Anything? What OS are they running? Open a
dos prompt on a problem machine and run net view. What do you
see? If there are any errors post the exact errors.

Greetings Jim,

On the computers having problems here are some things to try,

1. check to ensure the "Workstation" and "Computer Browser" service is
started.
2. have then renew their IP address (if static, have them temp go dymanic,
then reassign their IP address)
3. Check to make sure they do not have any custom host files that might be
causing problems
4. Check to see if they can ping the workstations, and see if they can
browse them by manually entering a UNC
5. Make sure they have the latest Windows Updates and drivers (NIC Card
especially)
6. Make sure your (a) server is set up as the master browser
7. Make sure that there is an exception on "File and Printer Sharing" on all
Windows Firewalls
8. Perform a ipconfig /flushdns
9. Disable Norton Internet Security (if using) for testing purposes.

Hope this helps,
