A bit more info would help! Do you mean you have two sites linked by a
router-to-router VPN? If not, what did you mean? What does this WAN consist
of?

Browsing a WAN is basically the same as browsing any routed network.
Each segment will build a local browse list. If you have at least one domain
controller, it will attempt to build a domain-wide browse list. To do this
it needs to be able to find the other master browsers (by their special
netbios names), and this usually requires WINS working across the WAN.

Hi Darren,
If you have a Site to Site link using VPN you should not have to setup
the NAT table. This is just pure routing.

The question is this. Do you have a Domain Controller? You have one
server at one site, but is that server in a Workgroup or Domain?

Thank you,

Alan Wood[MSFT]

the site that has the windows 2003(with VPN) is a domain (A.com)
the site that as windows 2000(with VPN) is a workgroup, but latter i want to
add another site that will have windows 2003(with VPN) in a
domain(sub.A.com)

Basically it is just like browsing across a router. See KB 150800. The
domain controller should act as the DMB and build a network-wide browse
list, which it will then send back to the SMB in the workgroup. So each site
should have a locally available browse list for the whole network (after it
all settles down).

If it isn't, check that the browsers are actually registering in WINS.
(The browse masters use WINS to find each other across the connection). You
can use the browstat utility from the support tools to monitor the browser
service.
