we maintain a number of servers, spread across a couple of sites, all servers
are within the same domain, however one site is connected to the rest of the
domain by a basic (256k) leased line, at this site is on DC named ANDROMEDA,
none of the other servers display this server, or any of the workstations
from this site, if you check network places - we've run the netbios browsing
console tool and it confirms that ANDROMEDA does not exist in any of the
browse lists.

the site with ANDROMEDA and the stations is on a different ip range thatn
the rest of the network, is that the issue, if so how do we get around it,
how do we resolve this problem.

The conventional solution for WAN browsing issues is WINS. However, you
could try an lmhosts file on Andromeda:

1. Make sure the Computer Browser service is running and that Andromeda is
the master browser for the subnet.

2. Use regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Browser\Parameters

IsDomainMaster should be set to FALSE
MaintainServerlist should be set to yes

3. Create an lmhosts file:

<IPofPDCemulator> <NetBIOSnameofPDCemulator> #PRE
#DOM:<NetBIOSdomainName>

4. Reboot Andromeda - wait............

See:

Browsing has change very little since NT.
