Any help is appreciated. Fresh install of Slackware 10.1 on a Gateway
M460 laptop. Everything works fine with the default 2.4 kernel
including Broadcom Gigabit NIC(tg3 module). Install the newest
2.6.11.10 kernel, and the card no longer works. But the odd thing is,
modprobing the tg3 module works fine, I get the following from dmesg:
tg3.c:v3.23 (February 15, 2005)
ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:06:00.0[A]: no GSI - using IRQ 11
eth0: Tigon3 [partno(BCM95705A50) rev 3003 PHY(5705)]
(PCI:33MHZ:32-bit) 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet 00:e0:b8:7c:6b:35
eth0: RXcsums[1] LinkChgREG[0] MIirq[0] ASF[0] Split[0] WireSpeed[0]
TSOcap[1]
but when I try to dhcpcd it, I get:
tg3: tg3_stop_block timed out, ofs=1400 enable_bit=2
in dmesg and it never gets an IP, it just sits there(the activity light
flashes every second as it sends out dhcp requests). If I try to
configure it by hand via ifconfig, it configures fine and shows up, but
is unusable(ping gives me "Destination Host Unreachable"). I also
tried installing the BCM5700 driver off of Broadcom's website, and it
modprobes and detects the card fine, but when I dhcpcd it I get:
bcm5700: eth0 NIC Link is DOWN
in dmesg and no love.
