I have a small network of PCs, some linux, some windows, in at DMZ.
The network address is 192.168.2.0. The netmask is 255.255.255.248,
limiting the number of PCs allowed on the network.

The broadcast address has been set to 192.168.2.255. All works well
enough, but is it correct to put the broadcast address outside of the
network range? Should the broadcast address be 192.169.2.7? Would
both the linux and windows boxen be happy with this?

Thanks.

Dan

It's a private, reserved address range, so your limitations are
self-imposed.
