Email, at least, may be affected by the latest malware outbreak. "Sober"
is reported to be raging across the net again. But, while I saw a large
number of these emails dated 14:14 Tuesday, the spam filters on my mail
service seem to have adapted pretty quickly. Still, large numbers of
delivery attempts can be jamming things.

It could be enough extra traffic to clog an ISP's links to the rest of
the net, which would affect web browsing.

Whether there's some other problem specific to Zen internet, I've no way
of knowing. Ken, while I was able to identify your ISP from info in
message headers, it's worth typing in something like "I am a Zen
Internet user. Has anyone else had problems like mine."

=====================================

As the number of customers with a new service provider increases,
without an increase in equipment to handle it the quality of service
inevitably goes down.

Service providers arrange charges such that, in the medium term, it is
not quite economic for a customer to change to another provider as
quality and reliability degrade.

You can't win. On balance, you might just as well stay where you are
and hope for the best.

What would YOU do if YOU were a service provider?

The Internet is in the same technical and economic state as the
railways were in the days of Puffing Billy in the early Victorian age.
Dog eat Dog!

There's only one solution. It will have to be nationalised. Bring
back the post of Postmaster General, second in command to the Prime
Minister. You'll see!

Otherwise, the few private individuals who eventually own and control
the Internet will rule the Earth. Just as the International Oil and
Energy Corporations are attempting to do at present with some success.

You have been warned.

Old Reg.
