house cause this ?

no surprise there as the modem link to the exchange is the same.

tried plugging it into the back test socket of the master on the
incoming line ?

two masters means two ring capacitors to introduce noise etc so less
than ideal. Each microfilter provides ring circuit so can you ditch
the 2nd master ?

I am a wee bit confused by what you say here - you have tried aol and
wannado. Does that mean that both companies setup adsl on your line but
both failed? Surely the company who activated your line would assist you
with your connection? you can't just switch between them willy nilly.
My senses tell me you have tried to set them up from CD and they do not
work. Is that correct? Because its not like anytime where you can just put
in a CD and setup your account that way. You have to go through a process
of having your line checked by BT and then your adsl activated at the
exchange. Setup of broadband can take up to a week or more, its not
instant.
Or have I sensed the problem wrong?
