Hi, can anyone please recommend an ISP :

I am looking for an up-to 8meg connection (the line tests at about
5meg) a smallish download limit - around 2meg per month and a monthly
contract with no upfront charges - or as small as possible upfront
charges

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Are you sure you want a 2meg limit per month?

I can recommend Newnet who my father use. Fot 12.95/month you get a
(up to) 8Mb/s connection, 3GB traffic allowance and monthly contract.
They appear to be very reliable and offer good performance.

However, the upfront setup fees are of the order of £50 (if you don't
already have ADSL) and you also have to buy your own modem.

We recently switched to Newnet and the service appears to be very
good.

We had some problems initially, due to BT line, not Newnet - but the
customer service from Newnet was outstanding. I don't think I've ever
dealt with a company with better customer service (and I'm not
generally given to rounds of applause like that).
