Broadband Sharing with 2 PCs in different WorkGroups

I wanted to set-up a home network so my work laptop on a
domain could share broadband access with a home personal
desktop system (a member of a work group). How can I do
this?

Why can't I find a way to use resources connected to the
personal desktop system, such as printers and storage
devices, from the laptop?

Help!

I forgot to mention I bought MN-700 (Wireless-G Base
Station) and MN-720 (Wireless-G Notebook Adapter. Afyter
configuring the base station successfully with an ethernet
wired connection from the desktop, I was unable to access
the same network from the work laptop. After a long
conversation with MS Tech Support, I was told I cannot do
this with two computers in two different
domains/workgroups.

But I need to do it so isn't there a workaround?

At work when we have to access files from an untrusted
domain, we can access them using the IP Address/username
on that untrusted domain. Is there not a similar method
within a home network situation?

Further, the documentation suggests I can share the
broadband connection even though the computers are not in
the same domain. That is important to me - part of my
requirements can be met... But I need to share my personal
printer and other resources from my work computer when I
am in my home office (most of the time)... Help! Any work
arounds?

This is very frustrating!

I'm doing almost exactly what you're trying to do - except I have slightly
different hardware (built-in wireless on the laptop). Could you be more
explicit about where you are running into trouble?

Specifically, the trouble began when I put the wireless
card into the laptop and tried to authenticate onto the
new home office with the WEP key. I put in the correct WEP
key (several ways, manually, from a floppy disk, etc.) and
the system told me I was unable to authenticate because I
had the wrong WEP key.

That is when I called Microsoft and through
troubleshooting they told me I can't do what I am trying
to do.

When I hooked up the laptop via an Ethernet Wire, I could
configure the base station and it did receive a TCP/IP
address from the base station's DHCP server. My personal
Desktop registered a strange device I could not get any
information on (other than the IP address) in the list of
Network devices in the broadband utility.

My laptop did not see at all the personal computer in the
Networked devices section of the broadband utility.

Ideally, I would like to access personal computer
resources when I am in my home office (in a work group)
from my work laptop which is part of a work domain. The
resources I want access to include:

- The PCs Hard Drive (certain shares to be set-up and
mounted)
- The PCs CD-RW drive (the laptop doesn't have a burner)
- The two printers attached to the PC (one is an all in
one machine, so I would like access via the network to the
fax machine, color printer, etc.)
- Finally, to share my high-speed internet cable modem
connection from each machine. The work laptop will have to
VPN into the work network (I use ISDN today - have to wait
2 weeks to get cable modem installed). I am hoping when I
VPN from the laptop into work that the PC is uneffected
and can still browse the internet through the ISP.

I hope these specifics help, and that you will be able to
help me configure the equipment to accomplish some or all
of the above goals... I would be very grateful.
