The firm I work for as a site that has no postcode. BT or any other
ISP will not install broadband as there is no postcode. Has anyone had
a similar problem. The lane line is provided by BT.

Is this an automated wizard rejecting it? Might be worth calling up the ISP
in question to see if they can do something manually.

Everywhere has a postcode, or you'd never get any mail delivered. Ask the
local sorting office.

Out of interest, what does the address on the landline bill say..? The
postcode should be there.

Not a site one has post delivered to. Temp site while specified works
are carried out. though couriers doing deliveries have the same problem
they are flexible in the matter.

Hi Peter,

You could do it in a reverse fashion, get your ISP of choice to look up
what BT's database has for the telephone number you want activating,
then create an account with said telephone number and post code.

As far as I'm aware every active line in BT's system has a post code
associated with it (albeit an erroneous, arbitrary one in some cases).
You can also find this out from BT by calling 150 directly and asking
them what postcode they have for the line in question.

Regards,

Not everywhere has mail delivered though.

In work we get continual requests for postal addresses for buildings
situated in public parks, playgrounds etc.

As I keep explaining to them it will only have a full postal address if the
building receives post.

What do you need the postcode for ? To see if "ADSL is supported in
that area" or simply to get mail delivered ?

You could try adopting the postcode of a nearby house, if you can qualify
it with a more descriptive address ("just behind the green shed behind the
stables"). Postpersuns are normally OK about this.

A postcode generally supports multiple (1..20?) dwellings. Once, when
I slept in my vehicle for a month in a layby, I adopted the postcode
of a nearby block of houses. Got mail delivered to my car every day OK
after a surprised postpersun the first time round. Had to pay council
tax as well, which is OK !
