A friend of my brothers has ordered broadband from pipex, with his
phone number ending xxx897, he found out yesterday that the service
has been installed on xxx891 instead!!. Does anyone know if pipex will
charge him a cancellation fee / activication if they say its his
fault?? He
reckons he definately typed in xxx897.

Andrew

Let's assume he mis-type it. Now someone else has ADSL on their line.
ISP's are supposed to ensure that the BT line and ADSL service are in
the same name. Perhaps Pipex didn't make this check and that is your
get out of jail card?

I have had ADSL installed three times at various addresses and it has never
been in the name that the BT line is in, and no checks have ever been made.
The first provision was with BT as well, so I'm not to sure that these
checks exist.

Oh I know the checks don't exist - but I am sure that they are
supposed to be made by the ISP and/or BT.

If the incorrect number is xxx591/xxx891 (?) is "known" to your brother as
appears to be the case (as its yours!) than its unlikely BT/Pipex have made
a mistake as they must have got that number from "somewhere" (i.e. your
brothers application)

Don't Pipex send out an email confirming the order details, once you have
placed the order? Perhaps he could look at that email to see what telephone
number it says will be activated..

Regards
Sunil

Brothers mate ordered broadband on 560897, so he thought, he didnt
really
look at the phone number that got activated until yesterday evening.
His
logon/password details letter show the activated number as 560891.
Wrong
line, wrong house over 800 metres away. It just so happens my phone
number at home is 560891. My brothers mate reckons he checked all
the
details before ordering it, ( via web ) not via phone. What he needs
to know
if this is somehow a pipex error, or did he type in the wrong phone
number
when he ordered it. He would prefer not to have to pay a cancellation
charge
then have it connected on the correct number.

This has just raised just a teensy wee question over the accuracy of
your original order with Pipex.....
