Help on connecting Broadband into another room - Somebody posted this
message recently:

"Hi there

I would suggest that you run a proper phone extension to your room upstairs
from the unfiltered side of the phone line. That way you get a phone and
ADSL extension. You can get a kit from B&Q for about a tenner (IIRC)
including the socket.

Cheers, Mike"

I was just wondering exactly what this extension would be called, and if
anybody would be able to give post the B&Q link if possible, as I would like
to purchase this to use the internet in my upstairs bedroom.

Thanks

You need something like this
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...roductId=93337

Telephone extensions are VERY easy and safe to do. You should have a go. If
wired correctly, it will work fine with your broadband - thats what I am on
now

If you use the one in the link you aren't going to get use of the socket
that it originally plugs into unless you have a normal splitter into that
socket and then plug in your extension cable to one side and a filter into
the other which then becomes kind of ugly looking.

Personally I'd just snip the plug off the extension cable and hard wire it
into the back of the original socket. It is really easy to do.

Hi there,

That my reply. As the other two posters state. You just need a standard
telephone extension set - I would suggest you hardwire it as Steve Campbell
suggests. Extend it from the Master Socket if you can. The ADSL signal will
come down that line along with the telephone signal as long as you extend
the full line and do not insert any micro-filters. What the micro-filters
do is to take out the ADSL signal to stop it interfering with the telephone
handset signal.

As Steve says, have a go it is quite safe as long as you follow the
instructions with the kit.

Cheers, Mike
