Hello,
I hope this is the right group to ask these questions.
I'm have a dial up account and want to change to broadband.
I'm after a broadband ISP that also provides newsgroup access, who do you
recommend.

I would like 2 PC's to have access to the broadband connection. Do I need a
wireless router?

Are there any web sites that could help me get clued up on broadband.
Thanks
Newberry

Most ISP will have some sort of access to text newsgroups, getting
binary groups is far mor specialist and many would think best left to a
specialist provider than your ISP.

You need an ADSL router/modem, it does not have to be wireless unless
you want to connect without wires.
On that basis you may wish to avoid packages with 'free' modems thrown
in, 'cos you'll just throw it out (or onto eBay)

But precious little about NNTP access. Some packages apparently bar external
NNTP connections.

That rules out AOL. They disconnected their IMAP servers from Usenet two
days ago, not that they ever worked properly before that.

I have changed ISP's a few times over the years and all have seemed
much of a muchness really where one is crap in one aspect it excels in
another . Just keep well away from PN BT and Supanet and you won't go
far wrong but Blueyonder cable beats the lot of the ADSL providers
though .
