Bridging mode in Belkin or Netgear Access point?

Here's the thing I want to do .
I have a Belkin mini access point, has two antennas on it.
Model F5D6130. It came with practically the same software as the SMC
AP I had. So made in the same place likely.

This thing is about 4" across. I want to put it in a weatherproof
container with a reflector behind it and join a community wireless
network. There is an access point with a big tower, sector antennas,
etc.

So I figure I can put it in a piece of 4" PVC pipe and fashion a
reflector behind it, mount the whole thing on a pole, power over
ethernet and I got one wire going outside.

I don't see anything in the software setup utility nor in the manual
about bridging mode. I assume that will be necessary for this
project. Would this talk to another access point or does the
firmware need to support it?

This article about the linksys WAP11
http://www.seattlewireless.net/index.cgi/Wap11Hack
discusses the similarity between the Linksys and the Dlink APs, same
software. It also says
"The WAP11 Hack also works with the Belkin Wireless Access Point
(F5D6130??), and Dlink DWL-900 (Not Dlink DWL-900+) the latest Belkin
Firmware is 1.4g8 (From Belkin.com) but the firmware above (1.4j1)
works fine. The Amtel utility also works great with the Belkin WAP and
was used to increace the signal output."

I downloaded the ATMEL SNMP Manager software and it doesn't like that
AP, it complains "undetermined error, not listening." The utility
doesn't start at all. So what could be going on with that? Hmm.

Anyone have any experience with this? What could be wrong with the
atmel software, or do I even need to do any hack at all?
