Bridging the gap: connection problems

Hi,

I've got a wireless access point in one room and a PC with a D-Link
AirPlus Xtreme G+ (DWL-G520+) in another room. The AP is 802.11b and
the D-Link adapter is 802.11g/802.11b.
The setup is indoors and both cards are less than 10 meters apart, but
still I can't get a decent connection between the two. The D-Link
software and Windows indicate that every now and then, there's a
connection, but mostly none at all. No WEP encryption is used.
Both are on the same floor, but there's another adapter on the floor
below (which works, by the way).

Is it normal that they can't connect? How can I get them to 'see' each
other? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Tim
