Hi guys,
I have 2 linux machines that are connected in a chain to a switch and
router/adsl modem and I want to bridge the 2 ethernet cards on my 1st
machine so that DHCP on the router can dynamically assign IPs to both
the machines. It's fairly simple in windows but I've tried using the
bridging utilities and brctl without success. Can anyone advise? Cheers!

I have configured a bridge in my small server. Since it is a server it
has to have (or is much more practically) a fix network address for
that machine e.g. the bridge. I have modified the bridge script and
moved it to /etc/initd/bridge and -very important- add the name of
the bride to the list of internal ports of the firewall.

Thanks all for the help. I've finally got it working. Bridge now pulls
IP from DHCP server in router on startup. The bridging and shorewall
howto was a great help. Cheers!
