how to break parent/child relationship and make independant domain

scenario is that we have 3 forest 4 sites 'a','b','c','d' ....'a' and 'b' has
relationship of parent n child located in one forest..while 'c' and 'd' are
entirely different forests in different cities. problem is that we want to
break relationship of 'a' and 'b' (parent / child) and make just like 'c' and
'd' (independant forest) although they will be connected by making trust
relationships.
plz give me detailed overview and steps required for this.
Also keep in mind all are sending n recieving mails to each other. 'a' is
directly connected to 'b', 'c' and 'd' through 2 mbps link i.e. its hq.
'b' uses 'a' to route mails to 'c' and 'd'.

give me document or steps required to make 'b' independent and also tell me
how to make trust so that everything will be work fine as before breaking
parent/child relationship.

You can't simply break it off and create separate domains. It doesn;t work
that way. There is no secret to this. If you have a child domain and you no
longer want it to be a child and you want it to be a totally indpendent
domain, such as it's own forest, then you simply install a new domain in a
new forest and you migrate your data (users, groups, computers, etc) into
the new domain. You can use a tool such as ADMT (AD Migration Tool) to
facilitate this.

If you have Exchange mailboxes, and you want to migrate the mailboxes over,
simply install Exchange first, then use Exmerge two step process to export
mailboxes into PSTs, then import them into your migrated users in the new
domain. Of course you would need to first install Exchange in the new
domain.
