Hi folks,
I have configured bonding on redhat ES 3.0.When I upload or download
files I see packets going through, the two interfaces.Does this ensure
my bonding is working perfect?

Also I read somewhere that ethernet channel needs to configured etc.Can
someone shed some light on it?I am connected to cisco switch.

Thanks

What's protocol are you using for bonding

on my system i use 802.3ad

on cisco
this is the config used

interface Port-channel1
description serveur Linux
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
channel-group 1 mode active
interface GigabitEthernet2/0/1
channel-group 1 mode active

Is everything continue to work if you unplug one cable ?
on linux ( I'm using kernel 2.6 not 2.4 as RHEL3
alias bond0 bonding
options bonding miimon=100 mode=4

Hope this help

Well I didn`t test out by bringing 1 interface down.Anyway I am more
interested in load balancing than the failover.Since I see packets
going in/out of the two interface, can I assume bonding is ok?

Do I need to configure the switch for the Channelling? What is the
significance of this?

EtherChannel is CiscoSpeak for Bonding. And you should set up both ends to
match - with luck it could work (somewhat) without explicitly setting
both ends to bonding/etherchannel, but how long do you want to trust on
your luck?

And to complete the confusion, SunSpeak for the Bonding is Trunking,
which in CiscoSpeak has a completely different meaning.
