I have a sbs box with one internet line coming in on a public ip. I need to
setup a Bomgar support box on the same line and with a different public ip
that must be accessible from the internet. I already have a second public ip.
Can this be done on one line? I am not a Sbs expert at all, but logic tells
me if i configure the Bomgar box with the public ip, connect it to my switch
and use A and ptr records on the support box name and ip on my sbs dns server
to point to this box, is this possible?

I will appreciate any help.
Thanks

I wouldn't think it was possible as you describe it. It really depends on
how this is all configured, but I would think that your switch would be on
the "private" side of the sbs server, not the public side.

If the sbs server is running as a NAT router, you could maybe allocate
both public IP addresses to a pool in RRAS and map the second IP to the
Bomgar box's private IP on the LAN. The box would be connected to the
switch and have a private IP but be reachable from the Internet through
address mapping in NAT.

Local machines would see the box using its local name and/or private IP
but outsiders would see it by its public IP.

Hi - I replied at considerable length to your nearly identical post in
another group. In the future, please don't multipost - if you need to post
to multiple groups, it's best to crosspost instead, by posting a single
message to a handful of relevant groups (separate the NG names with commas)
so that everyone can follow the thread. Multiposting wastes everyone's time,
including yours, and may lead to your actually getting *less* help rather
than more.

Please see my reply in the original thread, and note that SBS does many
things its own way, so always try posting in
microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs first (with x-posts wherever else you
like).
