If you are only interested in connecting to your home router, and maybe
some advertised hotspots where you know you are in range, like a Starbucks,
then Boingo is of no use.
Boingo is useful for two things.
It will locate hotspots quickly. You can drive down the street in your
car and have it Boing as it finds hotspots that you might want to stop
and connect to. The standard tool would be much slower, possibly not
picking up any spots if you are on the move.
It has a built in directory of hotspots. Most are pay connections, but it
is a list.
