My 10Mb Blueyonder service gives exactly that, downloads at over 1
megabyte a second from UK sites that can support that bandwidth,
including my own web site and the Blueyonder FTP server. Overseas
downloads will be slower, as will any busy FTP or web site.

But you need a LAN running at 100Mbits to support a full 10Mbits, and
the SB5100 cable modem. If you are using a hardware router and/or
firewall, that may limit the speed as well, the cheaper products were
never designed for such high speeds, since they are so rare. My
Sonicwall firewall runs at 10 Mbit without any problems.

Their network can't cope with the increased speeds.
AFAIK they've put a hold on upgradin area's, while they scratch each
others heads and come up with a clue.
The binary server has always bin crap, and the email goes down whenever
the screensaver kicks in on Alex Browns puter.
