Anyone know what`s the difference between a standard RJ45 & a crossover RJ45

PS. Still wanting to speak with anyone using Intel 500 wireless gear.

Well, what is it that you want to know about them?

Is it which wires go where?
if that is the case:

with plug facing away from you and clip underside (from left to right)

Standard= T568B (Both ends T568B)
white/orange|orange|white/green|blue|white/blue|green|white/brown|brown
Computer to Hub.. Switch.. etc

Crossover= T568A (One end T568A, the other end T568B)
white/green|green|white/orange|blue|white/blue|orange|white/brown|brown

Computer to Computer connections would use a Crossover connection type,
otherwise the transmit and
receive pins would be in the wrong position, and would not receive any
transmition on a listening wire

The CAT5 type cable consists of four twisted pairs, (twisted to try and
conteract any interference that may be induced along its length)

There is "Stranded" CAT5, mainly for patch leads (more pliable)
And there is "Solid" CAT5, mainly for running to locations...

Cable types:
Cat5/5e/6

Or..

Have a look in google and search on cat5 cables
heres one link I found at random:
http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/c....htm#howtomake

I have laid many cables for various installations, though I am not an expert
on CAT5/5e/6.

I found all I needed to know from Google, and other pages to help me utilise
PoE, which works out great for locating my AP where I want it. eg.. NOT by
my power point! (without buying PoE transformers)

Only four of the eight wires are used in CAT5 networking, so you can use the
four that are redundant for powering up your remote devices if they only use
a LOW voltage, and DC Voltage at that.

The Standard wires that you would use if the Above wiring is used are:

white/blue blue and white/brown and brown, I use the White/Blue and Blue for
the Negitive and White/Brown and Brown for the Positive for the PoE
connections, again if you do a google search I am sure you will find lots of
other info that could help you with any projects you may be undertaking...

If this has been of some help great! if not..Someone else may have benifit
from it.

Regards
Alan (Not Blonde)
