How do you manage the curse of blogs re.
* can't fetch just the new contributions,
* can't fetch only contributions based on a sub-thread,
* the lack of trimming and disipline makes the contributors immediately give
their superficial ideas, before the thread dies in 24 hours;
which means that contributors don't sleep on the problem, and the debate
degenerates into a kiddie-twitter ?

What can RSS do, to solve this problem compared to Usenet which can:
* get the headers only of the latest N articles of a group,
* get the headers with specific <Subject-content> and other 'keys',
* get only the articles which have been selected [by their number, relative
to the specfic server/group] from their headers, or thread-position ?

== TIA.

["Followup-To:" header set to news.software.readers.]
<snip>

There is one advantage, rss does not crosspost.

To answer your question in the subject line: No. Usenet is alive and
well.

Now bugger off, blog-boy.

The most important thing of all: it can push advertising to users in a
manner that nntp simply cannot do.
