Is anyone know how to block messenger protocol (E.g: MSN Messenger, Yahoo!
messenger and ICQ)
from running in my network environment at the server or hardware firewall
level
without setting any policy that actually block the application from running
at the client side.

Any sample of blocking either one of this messenger specified above or all.

Server OS: Server 2003
Hardware Firewall : Fortinet

Any other solution without required of additional software or hardware is
acceptable.

Thanks in advance!

See the following link http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~rakerman/port-table.html.
Contains a detailed list about the ports that are opened or required for
various protocols including Messenger and ICQ.

Hope this helps

Don't post identical messages in multple groups separately, it generates
excess traffic and confusion. I already responded to this in another group.
