How to block network popups?

When I logon to my Windows 2000 company network, I receive many
annoying popups like 'ppts' ... I believe this is due to some logon
script set by the network administrator on Windows server. Being the
administrator of my machine (client), is there a way for me to get rid
of this nuisance?
