bitten in the ass by a bulldog

And I don't mean Churchill
Been a Bulldog customer for 2 years. Been great on 4 meg, Phone line OK,
inclusive call package pretty good. And fast enough.

But I was out of work for a few months, and in January started to look
at cutting back outgoings. I noticed that, compared to
4 meg Superactive, Static IP, Bulldog phone, and inclusive package, if I
regraded to
8 meg Unlimited, Static IP, Bulldog phone and inclusive calls, I would
be about £20 a month better off.
So I regraded, and heard nothing, and then noticed the progress tracker
said my line would processed in Mar 2005.

So I tried again, and this time it went through, and I was told I would
get a new static but couldn't have the call package at install time as
it was not compatible with my line (WTF, not compatible with the line
they are already supplying on?). Then I got an email to say they would
be coming to install the new phone line, and port the number, I was
supposed to be there during the arranged appointment, but they didn't
say when it was.

So I phoned to complain about it, wasn't shitty but was firm.
1)Why had it taken two months,
2)Why did my static IP need to change for a line regrade and billing
change,
3)Why didn't their system show I was already a Bulldog customer.

They couldn't answer any of the above.
Then my IP changed, then it re-connected again, and it changed again.
So I called them again.
"Oh we can't do anything about that, you are down as 'Billing Ceased'"
So I get them to re-instate billing then investigate the IP issue.
"You ordered a dynamic IP for your new line"
"No I didn't, I specified a static, because I already have a static on
my bulldog phone line"
"Oh well, we can't do anything about that, call back in a week and ask
then"

Then I got an email from them (after setting up a mail redirect after my
server lost it's static) saying I was "billing ceased" and should call
them, which I have.

I replied to the email stating I wanted my MAC code as I have a right
to, within 5 days, by post and by email. That was 4 days ago, and I'm
getting ready to go to OFCOM.

Time to come back to BT with option 3 and move ADSL to BeThere I guess.

I have said for many years that BT are the best but you pay for it
although I have moved around trying alternatives .

<cough>

Back when I was on dialup with BT I was dumped onto a virtually unusable
number as a "heavy user" (used to take over 20 minutes to connect, and
would drop out regularly). I was told I was on a permanent blacklist, so
even if I left and came back to them at another time, I would be on a
heavily throttled / restricted account.

The day _after_ I changed to another ISP I was sent an email warning me
about my usage ?!? - they repeatedly refused to tell me what this
"infringing" usage was, to the point where I almost put in a request
under the Data Protection Act to find out what the hell they were
talking about.

Just weeks prior to that, I had a _senior_ manager (one of the three
named "heads" IIRC) at BTinternet give me his personal mobile in case I
came across problems on their network (hackers etc) having alerted them
and helped identify / resolve problems in the past.

I didn't think it was particularly clear - I thought you meant which ISP
I _was_ with - I swapped first to Virgin (IIRC) and later to Pipex
