I need to see whether it is recommended to use static ip addressing for
servers or if DHCP is recommended. Can anyone help?

I think you will find that most people recommend static IPs for servers.
Even if it is unlikely to happen, having a server change its IP address can
cause lots of odd problems on the network.

To add to Bill's comment,...using DHCP Reservation might seem like a good
compromise in that you are using DHCP but always get the same address. It
is not a good idea either. It is simply this,...Servers need to
independently stand on their own two feet,...you do not want to make them
dependent on a DHCP Server in order to "exist". If the DHCP Server crashes
and the Server's Lease expires,...then what (reservation or not)?
