What is the best free file transfer programme? I have tried "yousendit"
etc., and others but they seem to slow down after a while or seem less
satisfactory, is there one that is "head and shoulders" above the rest?

Depends on what and how you want to share. MSN messenger works well for one
to one
I see Most think you mean File Transfer Protocol and not file sharing

Indeed.

I use CuteFTP for FTP
ABC for torrent or occasionally MSN or IRC for smaller files.

There is filezilla that is open source and free
Also if you are transferring stuff between windope machines and linux
machines or want a better secure file transfer program
between windope machines use winscp which is also open source.
If transferring files with winscp between windope machines, you
need to install an ssh service into the windope machine.
When installed and working, it works through firewalls providing
you have the relevant ports enabled and
also when windope file sharing isn't living up to expectations.

Thank you all for your suggestions, its to send large MP3 Files of
Music, in some cases whole works and up to now my friends use
"www.usendit.com" and a few similar programmes. I trust the programmes
mentioned above will do the same job only better?
