We are enabling a large old Georgian hotel in the UK with 802.11g and need
kit with provision for external aerials, repeaters, bridges etc. Thinking
about these ...

Trendnet TEW-410APB
D-Link DWL-200AP
3 Com 8250

All running external antennae (Directional were bridge mode is used)

Anyone have any reasons for not using any of the above? or any better
equipment.

Thanks

Jon

Trendnet and D-Link are mass-appeal consumer kit......
Cisco DOES make pro equipment, but it isn't found at the local
supermarket.

You'd do well to steer clear of the consumer stuff. Start thinking
about dual-radio APs, etc. Here are a couple of examples of
professional WiFi gear:

http://www.hyperlinktech.com/web/h-cor-p2.php
$844.95

http://www.ydi.com/products/ap-plus-...5730fa5fe0a84b
$499.00

There are a multitude of companies which produce *PROFESSIONAL* WiFi
gear. And as you can see from the starting prices, they begin at
roughly triple what the consumer kit goes for, but of course, ya gets
what ya pays for!

In a nutshell, if you require professional performance, steer clear of
the supermarket stuff!!

You may want to look into Proxim.com / Orinoco kit.
