Hello everyone.
I am going to be building a Beowulf cluster next year in school, so I'm looking
for information now. I have ~14 Pentium class machines and a Pentium 2. I
wish to use the PII as the master node and the rest as slaves. If I have to,
I'd be willing to buy a newer server-type machine from ebay as the master.
They will all be connected up via ethernet, with the home directories on the
master and programs installed on each node. I would like to use Debian and FAI
as the O.S. and installer. Has anyone else done something similar? (small num.
of machines, Debian, etc.) I would appreciate any help in the matter, web
sites, what network hardware I should use, anything.
Thanks in advance

Digi

I have OpenMosix cluster on Debian Woody.

Nodes only have motherboard + LAN + VGA + memory + CPU.
They are booted using pxe+grub+tftp over network.
Grub loads kernel with NFS root support.
NFS server exports complete filesystems and home dirs.
For server side NFS i use diskless packages in Woody.
Managing cluster is very easy - pretty much only one computer to worry about.

If you need detailed info, write me and i will send it to you.
