Belkin wireless router security log

Hi,

Does anyone know what the codes within the security log of a belkin
wireless modem / router mean?
It seems that someone is trying to hack into my home network but I'm
not sure as I don't really understand the security log and there isn't
any information in the Belkin literature about the log.

The security log says something along the lines of;
xx:xx:xx **Smurf** 0.0.0.0->> xx.xx.xx.xx Type 3, Code 0 from (ATM1)

Where xx.xx.xx.xx is the internal IP of one of my network nodes. The
messages repeat every 10 or 15 minutes. I'm guessing someone is trying
to gain access but I don't know what the Type x, Code x means so I
don't know if it's significant at all.

The same user seemed to be trying to connect via the wireless
connection too until I altered the settings, 128 bit encryption, ESSID
off, etc.

I've installed some better firewall software on the network nodes to
try and catch the person in the act but I don't know if the router
firewall is actually blocking the person from accessing my home
network. If it is then it's annoying that it doesn't show the source
IP address.

Thanks for any help,
Giles

Have you considered temporarily changing your SSID to something like
"Fuck off and die, hacker, I've got your number", in the hope that it
might discourage them? I'm afraid I can't help with the codes, but it
seems you've done all the right things so it's very unlikely anyone will
get in. I'm almost disappointed that I've seen absolutely no other
wireless activity whatsoever where I live. It would probably be fun.

Rod.
