Hi All and thanks for reading this.
I have 2 belkin 802.11b cards, one in the pc and other one in laptop running
in ad-hoc mode. Running Xp Pro on pc and XP home on laptop.
All was working fine until a couple of weeks ago and now I cannot get onto
the internet from my laptop(connection is via pc), I can swap files, print
ect on the network but cannot access the internet even to update my
antivirus ect.
I have turned off all firewalls reset all explorer settings and even tried a
system restore as far back as I can go (less than 2 weeks due yo xp update).
Any ideas apart from binning the belkin cards.
Thanks in advance Bob

Need some more info to give you a possible solution.

Which computer can not access the Internet - the desktop, the laptop
or both?

How do you connect to the Internet -- dialup, cable or dsl?

The main pc can connect fine (connected to dsl modem).
I have 2 notebooks and neither can connect to the internet but both share
files across the network (with the pc that connects to internet) with no
problems.
I have gpone through the internet connection sharing troubleshooter in xp
but no luck.
They were working fine but suddenly stopped, I thought it may of been an
automatic update that screwed it up.
Regards Bob

Your problem is in the settings of something on the desktop machine,
perhaps the firewall in the desktop or the ICS bridge itself. ICS has
a "bridge" function to pass the local network through to the outside
world's network (the Internet, in this case) via outbound dsl
connection. Somehow, that's screwed up.

Go for a wireless router -- I recommend the Linksys WRT-54G, even
though you only need 802.11b connections. You'll find better sales
and rebates on the WRT-54G. I _do_not_ recommend a Belkin router. I
had one and was not happy with it.

You really should _not_ use ad-hoc if you are interested in security
of your network.

dslmodem -->router---wired to desktop
-- wireless to notebooks
set notebooks to infrastructure only.
