Belkin Wireless G isn't wireless!

Help please, set up as follows
XPhome machine connected to cable modem (NTL BT line) with BelkinG
F5D7230 and WG USB adapter F5D7050
XPPro machine with USB adapter as before
Laptop with mini PCI wireless already installed.
It's all working great all on the net, file sharing, printer sharing
except it's not wireless.
The lead from the modem is still plugged into the router with the blue
ethernet cable from the router to the computer. Is that wireless??
Tried plugging modem lead back into computer and taking the router to
the modem, plugging lead from modem into router and blue lead from
router to modem - it didn't work. Had a frustrating half hour on the
phone to Belkin and tho the bloke was very patient he was also very
hard to understand and seemed to be telling me that everything had to
stay plugged in. I thought I would end up with the router just plugged
into a power source and everything else the way it used to be, was I
wrong?
All help gratefully received please.
Chris

READ THE FUCKING MANUAL.

You have a lead that comes from the socket on the wall that goes into
the Cable Modem. The lead that went from your cable modem to the PC,
now plugs into the Belkin instead. I'd use the lead that came with the
Belkin to do this.

IF YOU READ THE FUCKING MANUAL it'll tell you how to set up your
wireless connection on the PC so it'll talk to the Belkin and allow you
to configure it.

Thank you for your reply. I have RTFM and it stops at the point where
you have an internet connection with the modem lead plugged into the
Belkin and the blue ethernet lead plugged into the Belkin and computer.
Like that everything is fine internet, file sharing between the 3
comps. My question was is that wireless? Leaving one end of the modem
lead plugged into the computer and the other plugged into the green
port on the Belkin doesn't work. I've about lost the will to live here
and then you shouted at me, think I'll go and have a cry.

Wireless networking makes everybody cry at some stage so don't worry about
that!

A computer connecting solely to a Wireless Access Point (WAP) won't have
any network cables plugged into it - i.e. it's 'wire-less' :-)

It is possible to use both a wired and wireless connection on the same PC
which can confuses the issue.

If you want to use just wireless on one (or more PC's) then you will need
to (a) set up the WAP and (b) set up the PC so it can talk to the WAP. If
that's what you want to do then come back and somebody will try to help
you through it.

Obviously there's a fault somewhere, if it says wireless there shouldn't
be any wires at all, it should get its data from the NTL cable modem by
precognitive osmosis although some of the NTL regions have been slow to
roll out this technology, I'd return it to the shop if you have kept the
box and when they ask you why you've returned it tell them that you're
too stupid to be allowed on the internet.

Yeah...Chris is as dumb as a box of rocks. Seriously, there's no hope
of Chris sorting it out.
