Belkin wireless & DMZ

I have a Belkin F5D7632uk4 wireless ADSL modem/router which is working
fine (Internet/e-mail etc all OK) except......

I wish to use it to play an online game (BF2), but to do this, I need
to enable the DMZ (just for this game!!). I configured the router/modem
for this and everything worked OK. When I finished the game, I
disabled the DMZ. I've tried enabling the DMZ to play the game again,
but the game now seems to hang and I need to power on/off my
router/modem and reboot my PC to get internet connectivity back. What
is slightly odd is that the game is obviously communicating with the
account server to get my account details (name, score, rank, list of
games servers available etc), but hangs as soon as it tries to connect
to a game server (different protocols perhaps?).

When I look in the security log, after trying to alter the DMZ Ip
settings, I get messages like :

"Sep.19.2005 22:38:15 webserver:ArcFwDmz::applyChanges() : remove old
dmz failed !!"

This makes me think that something has gotten screwed up, and it's
still trying to use the first IP address for the DMZ. My presumption is
that with the DMZ enabled the packets are being routed to the first IP
address, and not to the new one.

I power down my router and PC after each session, and I get assigned a
new IP address dynamically by my ISP (Tesco.net).

Does anybody have any suggestions? This is annoying as the installation
and configuration of the Wireless network was a 30 minute job!

Techie bits:

Router/modem : Belkin F5D7632uk4 wireless ADSL modem/router
OS : XP home
ISP : Broadband Tesco.net
Game : Battlefield 2
PC : Dell Something or other (which works fine otherwise, virus
checked, spyware scanned, Zonealarm firewall etc etc)

TIA...

there's a firmware upgrade kicking around, what version are you on ?

Have you tried putting a different LAN IP in the DMZ settings, save
it, enable it, disable it then go back to the IP you want ?

I havn't tried the firmware upgrade (I'm not at home, so I don't know
what version is currently installed).

No you don't at all.

Your Belkin is fine. Unfortunately the game is not. I have it and TBH
it's the most unstable pile of shite I've come across - even to the
point of not playing it anymore until hopefully the next patch fixes
the host of problems.

BF2 is a buggy pile of shit. It has more lockups and "There is a
problem with your connection" than you can shake a stick at. Locking
up, returning to desktop, repeating sound loops and even rebooting PCs
is not uncommon with this game.

Click on the link below and see how many threads there are with the
same issues.

His router is fine. BF2 has ALOT of issues. ATM it's not even worth
BETA status, let alone final retail.

Thanks Conor, I know most of the other problems, I've been playing for
the last month without Wireless. But this is a completely new problem,
which I'm hoping to fix....

Turned off Zonelalarm, enabled DMZ at router/modem and BF2 worked fine.
When I stopped playing, no internet connection, and none since....
(lights on router show no internet connection, but ADSL is synced!)

Oh well, this wireless network lark is fun....
