I've been told that some Belkin wireless routers (note - not modem/routers)
have some issues with NTL/Telewest 10Mb broadband lines. Is this simple
hearsay, or should I be taking a careful look at the Belkin's settings and
looking for firmware updates?

Cheers.

I bought a Belkin wireless access point (not router) and bridge a year
or so back. I resolved never to buy Belkin again - incomplete
networking capabilities and no support.

Sorry but from past experience, both in the field & by others posting
on here, that piece of equipment isn't any good, even as a door stop,
unless you jam a ariel underneath it.

Hi,

Do you have any experience of connecting more than 4 devices to your
NTL connection at the same time?

NTL say it can't be done?

Thanks,

David

I can't say what they'd say, but my own home network currently has 7
machines connected with internet access. The limit is set by the
router's capabilities and the line bandwidth; with a properly set up
firewall, systems off the LAN cannot tell anyway how many machines are
connected on the LAN.

At one stage I had 8 machines all hanging on the end of a NTL service,
no problems but it was slow if they were all being used at once. It
all depends on your router specs as you can always put a switch into
the router, got one here with 16 ports & another with 24 ports, the
sky is your limit, just be realistic about what you want to do & you
won't go far wrong..
