I purchased a Belkin F5D7231-4P router/print server almost 2 months
ago. The router works fine but the print server fails with regularity.
After setup I was able to print fine with my HP Deskjet 990-series
printer. Within an hour, however, I tried printing again and got the
"error printing" in the printer status dialog box. (I'm running Windows
XP, have 2 wireless computers and 2 wired computers connected. All
experience the same problems. Installation were according to documented
instructions and verified by Belkin helpdesk folks.)If I crawl under my
desk and physically reset the router, the queued-up jobs will print ok
but the issue repeats itself within about an hours time.
At the time I purchased my router I also got one for a friend and she
is having the same problems with her Epson Stylus printer. Setup is
automatic and there are really no settings to adjust after install so I
think (hope) I can rule out "operator error" on my part.
The Belkin helpdesk has been completely useless to me. They have
replaced her router but the issue remains. I am awaiting a replacement
for mine but I don't have high hopes. Might anyone have experienced
this problem and/or have a solution for me? If so I will be happy to
train the Belkin folks so others don't have to waste as much time as I
have with them.
Thanks in advance.
