I have found a firmware update for my router

http://web.belkin.com/support/downlo...A&lang=1&mode=

My problem is that I don't know what the update actually fixes
why don't they say what it does?

Hi Eileen,

Be careful with this upgrade. I tried it on the phone with a Belkin
engineer. He told me to backup my current configuration because it resets
everything. I did this and then upgraded my rouer.

When i tried to import the saved settings it wouldn't accept the file,
saying the file was too short. Needless to say I was not amused.

Write down your settings on paper as well.

best wishes

Yes, they really should put a changelog on their website.

However, according to Belkin:

- The latest firmware resolves disconnection issues
- It increases wireless performance

I don't think their are is any new functionallity - instead it "enhances the
existing features".. and also fixes the odd bug in the old firmware.

Sunil

I installed 1.08.03UK a month ago and it has certainly reduced the number of
disconnections. So I recommend it. And I had no problem with the upgrade
(which I did over wireless!).

despite the mess with it not recognising saved settings, does seem more
stable. definitely fewer disconnections.
if in doubt ring belkin support- very helpful techs.

I have installed 2 of these routers recently (both with the current
firmware) and had big problems with them randomly disconnecting. This
was solved by using firmware from SMC, who market the same router
under a different name. IMO, their firmware is far superior to
Belkin's

I don't want to sound stupid, but did you cancel the disconnection
option from the setup (Idle timeout)? It is set to 5 min and you need
to up it to 99999

Setting it to 0 is probably better
