I have been using a Belkin N1 MIMO wireless router for about three weeks now without any
problems excepting the less than advertised wireless range. Then, yesterday morning I
noticed the network LED flashing amber. At the same time I noticed downloads would hang and
have to be restared fequently. Also, my VOIP phone connection would drop suddenly.
I checked EVERYTHING and finally discovered in the router security logs that DHCP was
being reconnected every 58 seconds. Bizzare! I strarted a timer, and sure enough, every 58
seconds, the connection dropped and started again, like a very slow heartbeat.
So I called tech support and got "Julia". She said there was a firmware update (2.01.19)
that would fix the problem. So I updated the firmware from 2.01.13 to 2.01.19 and STILL have
the problem.
I called back. "Sam" told me this was weird and a level 2 tech would call in the next 24-48
hours. From experience (I should write a book!!) I know that will probably happen. Since I
bought my first Belkin router two years ago I have been through four of their routers at
their expense.
I have two questions. How can these people make money? Has anyone a clue about the pulsing
disconnects?
