Belkin firmware upgrade

Has anyone else experienced problems applying the Belkin firmware upgrade to
a F5D7230-4? I don't know what I was doing wrong, if anything, but I ended
up applying the firmware upgrade about 15 times. The problems were: the date
would revert to Jan 1970 and would stay there, the wireless service stopped
(but direct connections to the ethernet ports still worked), attempts to
enter IP addresses to block would not save onto the router, and strange "the
password is invalid" messages would sometimes come up when trying to save a
change. I began to think I would need to buy a new unit.

Each time I applied the firmware upgrade the errors were slightly
different - some things would start working normally but other problems
would arise. I tried emailing Belkin but to date no reply.

I think it's working okay now but I'm not absolutely confident.

From the 3.00.05 change log:
>This release contains the following fixes:
> 1) Solved a known issue with firmware update failure

It took 2 attempts with power down resets between them the first time I
upgraded, since then its upgraded without problems. Power it down,
reapply the patch then restart the router. If it still won't fully
upgrade after 2 flash/power cycles it may be faulty.

The 1970 time just means it can't connect to the internet time server.

Thanks. I assumed that if it couldn't connect to the internet time server it
was a fault in the on-board settings that could not be corrected without
re-uploading the firmware update. I am not sure whether given time it would
have corrected itself.

Version 3.00.05 appears to me to be for the USA market (if I have understood
the Belkin site correctly) and I don't know whether there would be adverse
consequences if it was uploaded to a unit used in Europe. Does anyone know?

Don't even consider it, I only mentioned it for the flash bug they
admitted. Hopefully we'll get a localised version fairly soon.

And its finally shown up on the UK site (with a totally bogus release
date). The update went a little strangely but took, the only noticeable
change so far is a much more responsive management page.
