Hello, I'm looking for some possible help with a problem with a Belkin 4
port WIRED gateway router #F5D5230-4.
The router has been working fairly well with a cable modem & 2 PCs
connected. One PC has an older Linksys 10 mps NIC & the newer PC has an on
board 100 mps NIC. The router has started to drop the cable modem connection
2-3 times a day until now it won't stay connected longer than 15-20
minutes - or the speed has gotten so slow "everything" times out. I've
upgraded the firmware but that hasn't helped. Both PCs cannot "use" the
Inet, so it doesn't appear to be a PC problem. If the cable modem is
connected to one of the PCs everything works fine, so it doesn't appear to
be a cable modem problem. I contacted what support there is from Belkin but
their only response was to have me change the settings on the NICs to 10 mps
& half duplex - neither of the NICs has settings for this (no settings in
device manager/properties/etc.), and both PCs are running Win98SE.
Any ideas, and are there known problems with this older router?
TIA.
