Belkin - Is it any good?

I'll keep it simple. My neighbours and I are looking at setting up a LAN
using the Belkin 802.11g Wireless Desktop Network Cards. We believe we may
also need to use the Belkin Desktop Antenna is the range it to great. My
neighbours are across the road and next door. Largest distance is no more
than 100' or 30 meters.

What I would like to know from people who have this gear is (a) What range
are you getting from the Belkin 802.11g Wireless Desktop Network Cards? and
(b) What range are you getting from the Belkin Desktop Antenna?

I'm not using Belkin G but I did use their B line. The client cards do not
work with Cisco's VPN software and their 'tech support' couldn't understand
how their could be any problem with their product.

I solved it by using a Linksys card. Btw, the router I am using is a Belkin
and it's great... most of the features work! <note the sarcasm>.

Using a Belkin G router and AP to bridge 2 buildings here. 30m from
AP to router with standard antennae, through 2 walls. No experience
with the desktop cards, sorry.

I use the Belkin 54g desktop and notebook cards in my network and the
notebook successfully connects through the Cisco VPN router - may just
have been an issue with the b cards perhaps.

As far as the range of the cards goes, I have set up these two cards
as an ad-hoc network and the range is impossible. The connection rate
drops to 1Mbps and that's with the notebook practically on top of the
desktop! (See my previous plea for help on the subject!)

If you do get the desktop antenna I would love to hear how you get on
because I might need one too!
