i'm using virgin.net broadband ISP, and have just installed a toshiba
WBG-1200A router-modem along with a belkin network card. (i was formerly
using a speedtouch usb frog modem)

i completed the web browser based config for the router (using some values
from virgin.nets webpage - in fact by coincidence i used the same settings
as given on the "settings for BT" addendum sheet, except for DNS Relay
Enable), managed to get all the lights lit (power, ethernet port link 1 is
established, wireless lan enabled, adsl link is established)... all looks
good, it says "connected" in the connection status screen of the web config,
so i should be able to view web pages.... but i can't! just get the standard
"cannot access page" error as if i'm not connected at all....

how can i troubleshoot this issue (this is my first ever home networking
attempt, just tried to follow the step-by-step guide, haven't even got to
the linking 2 pcs part yet!)?

First check your internet connection settings (eg on Internet Explorer,
Tools, Internet Options, Connections... to be sure you're not still looking
for some 'dial-up'/USB facility... Are you currently using wireless or a
cable (I'm assuming a cable, from mention of the status display, but may
be as good to be sure... if so, is the network connection set to DHCP
to pick up settings off the router ? Peter M.

I recommend them and save some cash.

okay got it working now! i didn't have virgin.net's DNS server specified,
finally found 2 ip addresses on an obscure website, of which one of them
worked. can now browse, send/receive mails/post news messages (like this
one).

the virgin.net DNS server is 194.168.8.100

thanks for the help.
