befw11s4 V.4

Can someone please help me....?


I just got off the phone with front line support and was advised that

Linksys is currently having an issue with PPTP passthrough on the
above mentioned router?

Does anyone know if this is true?

This is my current configuration;

Firmware: 1.45.3, Jul 1 2003

Forward Port 1723 and 47 (both TCP and UDP) to VPN server

UPNP services are enabled.

PPTP passthrough is also enabled.

Block WAN request is disabled.


I even tried reflashing firmware and DMZ still no luck..





Can anyone help me???

I don't know about that specifically since I haven't had the need to run a
VPN server on my home network.

However, I can say that I had so much trouble with my BEFW11S4v4 that I
exchanged it for a Netgear FR114P router with a Linksys WAP11 tacked onto
it. This has given me *much* better performance and reliability than the
BEFW11S4v4 which had to be reset nearly every day.

I've read a few posts here that Linksys has admitted to major hardware
issues with the BEFW11S4v4 that cannot be fixed with firmware. One would
hope that they'd come out with a free replacement deal or at least a v5 that
fixes the problems.
