BEFW11S4 Port Range Forwarding not working

Liksys BEFW11S4 ver 3

Until recently everything has been working o.k, (only a moth old) but the
port range forwarding no longer seems to work. It does however work if I use
UPnP forwarding to forward to specific ports which I'm using as a work
around in the short term but this has its drawbacks.

I have tried restoring to factory defaults, hard reset (hold reset for 30
seconds etc) and upgrading to the latest firmware 1.45.1 Apr 11 2003 (I'm in
the U.K)

But nothing, strangely, it works from the Lan side of the Router to get to
other port ranges on other PC's and I have tried "block Wan requests" set as
disabled etc.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas,

Thanks in advance

Barry

Strictly speaking it doesn't matter with regard to port forwarding but the
latest firmware for the UK is v1.43.3z. You would appear to have updated to
FCC spec v1.45 and lost two channels in the process. Go back to the Linksys
firmware page and look for the "European Version" at the bottom of the page.
I use 1.45 though and have found it the most stable yet, but curiously the
UPnP function doesn't work as well as the WRT54g which I now use as well....

Thanks for the reply,

Sorry, I dont mean to correct you but 1.45.1 is actually the latest european
firmware.

I can confirm this because I'm using it and I still have 13 channels,

Get it here
http://www.linksys.com/international...tfwid=8&coid=6

Or look here for the info
http://www.linksys.com/download/vert..._eu_ver145.txt

You get to it by going going to www.linksys.com then through International,
then UK, then products then Firmware..

Do you have DHCP enabled?
If so, disabled DHCP and assign static IP address to the computers.
Good Luck.

I know port forwarding does work. I'm using it to forward various port to
computers on my LAN.

The only thing I can suggest from here is to make sure a software firewall,
if any on the PC is not blocking the port(s). Also, have you tried removing
the BEFW11S4 between the modem and computer to see if you can reach the
server that way? If you can reach the server from the internet, more ports
need to be forwarded. Some firewalls allow you to monitor port access
activity to determine the ports. If not, your ISP may be blocking whatever
ports you are trying to forward. Also, make sure the WAN address on the
router is really your public IP address.

Yeah,

I know it does to, like I said,

Originally it was working, then port range forwarding stopped working, but
port triggering worked and also I could use UPnP to forward, it was just the
"range forwarding" so that rules out any problem with the ISP, modem or
anthing. After trying several solutions suggestedI took the router back and
got a new one (same model basically a straight swap) and now it works on
this one.

If you take the time to read the orignial posts and replys it might help you
to understand what Im talking about, I can't be bothered explaining it all
again.

All I'll say is it deffinetly was a hardware fault, I tried everything
anyone suggested and spent a small fortune on the phone to tech support who
came to the conclussion that there was a fault with the router and as it was
still less than a month old I should take it back,
