There are some wireless clients (and drivers) that absolutely insist
that it see the SSID of the access point or wireless router in order
to function. Turn off SSID broadcasting and the client will ignore
the access point. You might wanna check for wireless card driver
software updates on this particular laptop.
Also, I consider turning off SSID broadcasting to be a total waste of
effort and not very useful as a security measure.
